horseracingdeservesbetter represents people who are worried about attempts to re-shape horseracing in Britain. You may work full or part time in any branch of racing, or be someone who goes racing. You are an enthusiast, and want the best for the sport and for the horses involved. Your worry centres both on the potential loss of sequence in the horseracing calendar and on the very high spend and potential loss of prestige implied by single events such as Champions Day, Ascot, 15 October 2011.

Our simple objective is to make clear to horseracing's administrators that there is considerable grassroots concern, and that such voices deserve a hearing in making these plans better thought out and more realistic.

If you share these concerns, please support us in the box below. We would also ask you to outline your specific worries on 6 matters stated below, so that the precise areas of concern can be demonstrated to those running horseracing.

I earn a living from horseracing/I work in horseracing or a connected activity.
I am a horseracing enthusiast.

19 AUGUST 2011

Stay well, Frankel, must be the fervent wish of the BHA and Racing For Change. The October 15 meeting will be lit up by the miler's presence. Already, though, the QEII being run on the same day as the Champion Stakes is threatening to dilute the line-up for each race, which was envisaged here all along. As for the names, the banishing of the Jockey Club Cup in favour of the Qipco British Champions Long Distance Cup is a nonsense. Out with Pride, reject the Diadem. Tear up beastly heritage. It is a disgrace. Warnings were given, and not accepted. Our Champions Day 2011 Report was ignored by the silent BHA who expect the one £3 million day to convert non-believers in their droves. £3 million at a time when stock markets are diving, and stagnation looming, as was entirely possible at the start of the year. See News Page for all findings from the 750 people who consulted us (er, somewhat more than the RFC consulted).
